 Role Summary

The Finance Senior Administrator Role

The individual appointed will report to the Director of Finance.  The successful candidate for this role will be a motivated self-starter with the ability to:

  • Prepare and review payroll time and attendance data for each payroll period

  • Prepare, review and process payroll for each payroll period in accordance with the agreed payroll calendar

  • Ensure all payroll transactions adhere to payroll policies and complies with relevant law and statutory requirements 

  • Research any discrepancies of payroll information and / or documentation to ensure accuracy and adherence to procedures prior to processing

  • Maintain payroll information, files and records and providing up to date reference and audit trail for compliance

  • Develop expert knowledge of public service pay scales and pay provisions

  • Understand taxation implications of employer paid benefits and Social welfare benefits       

  • Record payroll transactions on an accounting package and reconcile to payroll reports and Revenue returns

  • Prepare payroll reports for Revenue payments

  • Remit voluntary payroll deductions to relevant organisations on a monthly / quarterly basis

  • Assist with the integration of a new time and attendance system to payroll system

  • Process and review of motor travel, domestic and foreign subsistence claims in line with SFPA and public sector procedures

  • Work with the Director of Finance on the updating of procedures in line with best practice

  • Plan, prioritise and organise their workload on their own initiative

  • Be competent in dealing with all internal & external customers in a professional and competent manner

  • Assistance with month and year end procedures, processing and analysis

  • Assistance with internal and external audit requirements

  • To work efficiently and productively in a multi-task environment on a daily basis

  • Identify and analyse problems using sound judgment to effectively resolve issues

  • Deal with finance related queries in a timely manner

 

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

 

Essential Entry Requirements

 

Candidate must meet the following essential requirements prior to their appointment:

  • Possess 2 to 3 years’ relevant payroll experience

  • Experience with industry financial systems

  • Excellent numeric & accuracy skills

  • Excellent computer skills with strong working knowledge of an accountancy software package and MS Excel

  • Excellent attention to detail/customer service skills

  • Strong ethos of confidentiality

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

In addition to the minimum qualification entry requirement candidates must also have:

  • Fluent spoken and written English is absolutely essential

  • Full driving licence

 

 

Desirable entry requirements

  • Have a third level qualification or a payroll qualification for example IPASS qualification

  • Good knowledge of the principles and practices of payroll in the public sector

  • Experience in processing public sector payroll would be advantageous

  • Have experience as an accounts administrator

  • Have a Finance qualification

Note
